Research Interests
Dr Edwards central area of specialty is in the politics of neo-liberalism. This was the subject matter of her Cambridge University Press books, her doctoral thesis, and her recent ARC post doctoral fellow application. Her various projects have explored neo-liberalism’s historical rise, its philosophical foundations, the ways that it plays out in practical Australian government policy making, and its implications for democratic practice.
Dr Edwards is also developing an increasing interest in studying neo-liberalism’s competitors. As her work takes this direction she is increasingly focusing on questions of political ideology, the ways old ideologies are being remade, and whether we really do exist in a ‘post ideology’ world.
She also has an interest in identity politics which takes her into issues of race & religion, sexuality and gender.
